Celebrate PRIDE with Chuck Palahniuk

CHUCK PALAHNIUK

Chuck Palahniuk is an American author.  His writing style, in which he seamlessly blends reality and storytelling, is unique and often described as “transgressional fiction”.  His characters are typically individuals that break free of societal norms and expectations in unusual or illicit ways.  It is safe to say that Chuck’s writings are not for the faint of heart, but once you read one you feel a very strange and unexplainable need to dig yourself deeper and deeper into his literary world.

Perhaps Chuck’s most famous novel is “Fight Club”, which was published in 1996 and made into the cult classic film in 1999.  His fourth novel “Choke” was also made into a movie in 2008.  Recently talks have begun to develop “Lullaby”, which was published in 2002 into a film adaptation as well.

As an adult Mr. Palahniuk joined a rebellious group called the Cacophy Society in which hijinks and pranks are just a few of the over-the-top activities members participate in.  Chuck used his membership in the Society as inspiration for Project Mayhem in “Fight Club”.

To date, Chuck Palahniuk has 15 fictional novels, 1 collection, 1 novella and 2 non-fiction works under his belt.  His most recent book, “Make Something Up:  Stories You Can’t Unread” was released May 2015.
